Two mash – two solutions: Find the right one for your horse

November 25, 2021Ingeborg Rahbek Pedersen

Horses have very different needs – some become too thin, others too round. That’s why we’ve developed two fiber mashes with completely different functions. Both can be served dry or as a delicious mash with water – and they can also be combined if your horse needs both extra fiber and energy.

+Fiber Mash – low energy

For frugal or overweight horses that need longer eating times and stomach peace.
👉 A good choice if you want to support digestion and reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.

+Energy Fiber Mash – high energy

For growing horses, thin horses or horses in hard work.
👉 Supports muscle building, recovery and a stable energy level.

The inspiration behind

The products are created based on the challenges we ourselves face with horses: some lose weight easily, others gain too much. At the same time, our customers have asked for simple solutions in a market with a sea of different mash and fiber products. That's why we developed two mashes, each with a clear focus - so you can easily choose what your horse needs.

Common to both products

  • Contains RC Herbal Fusion #1 – 200g of herbs in each bag

  • No added vitamins and minerals - so you have control over where they come from

  • Supports intestinal flora and immune system

  • Fiber acts as a buffer against stomach acid and contributes to stable blood sugar, energy and learning.

Fiber – more than filling

Fiber is the foundation of a horse's digestion – but it works in different ways:

  • Fermentable fibers
→ Nutrition for the microflora in the intestine. Converted into short-chain fatty acids, which provide stable energy.
→ Sources: beet pulp, soybean hulls, citrus pulp.

  • Coarse fibers
→ Provides volume, binds fluid and toxins and ensures healthy flow in the intestines.
→ Sources: soybean hulls, grass green pellets, wheat bran, alfalfa, beet pellets.

We have excluded rice and oat bran due to low digestibility. Alfalfa is also not included in our mixtures, as other fibers provide a better balance between coarse and fermentable fibers.

Why fiber is so important

  • Keeps blood sugar and insulin levels stable

  • Creates a depot of fluid, electrolytes and nutrients in the large intestine

  • Buffer against stomach acid – give some fiber before exercise

  • Helps the horse regulate body temperature in both hot and cold weather

  • Supports the body's natural control of inflammation after exercise, injuries or infections

When the gut says no

After-runs and wet farts are often caused by undigested starch in the large intestine. Fiber helps to balance the imbalance so that the fluid is absorbed into the body instead.

In short

  • +Fiber Mash – low energy for frugal or overweight horses

  • +Energy Fiber Mash – high energy for horses growing, recovering or in need of extra muscle

  • Or combine them – if your horse needs both a calm stomach and extra energy

👉 Fibers are not just fibers – and the balance in our two mash makes it easy to choose the right solution for your horse.
