When looking at protein supplement products, it is important to look at what raw materials the product actually contains. This protein product we are reviewing here consists of:
-
Lucerne
-
Soybean meal (non-GMO, toasted)
-
Flaxseed cake
-
Brewer's yeast
-
A little oil and a supplement of amino acids (Lysine, Methionine, Threonine).
These are the same raw material types that we have already reviewed in our blog post about protein sources for horses, here simply combined into a finished product.
Important things to know about brewer's yeast
Brewer's yeast can support a healthy intestinal flora and thus increase the utilization of roughage. In practice, in frugal horses, this can mean that they gain weight more easily, even without extra calories from the manger. Therefore, it is important to adjust the use to the horse's individual needs.
What does it really cost?
Price: 7 kg = 492 kr → 70.3 kr/kg
Crude protein: 37.2%
If the goal is to give the horse 150 g of pure protein per day:
-
Requires approximately 400 g of product (400 g × 37.2% = 149 g)
-
Price: 400 g × 70.3 kr/kg = 28.1 kr per day
(Offer price September 2025: 7 kg 492 DKK)
Perspective
With this protein product you pay approx. DKK 28 per day for 150 g of protein.
Compared to classic protein sources such as soy meal, alfalfa or green pellets, they are both well-documented and often more economical choices.
✅ Therefore, our recommendation is: Use the simple protein sources we have described in the protein blog - they provide the most value for both the horse and the wallet.
PS: When you feed Every Day Happy or Peak Performance, the horse already gets the important amino acids – Lysine, Methionine and Threonine – which are essential for muscles, hooves and immune system.
