Many people experience that their horse gains weight even though the feed is restricted.
It is often due to one or more imbalances in the diet.
Here you will find a simple, sustainable plan that helps your horse lose weight - while also providing it with all the nutrients it needs.
What do you need besides an overweight horse?
- Weight measuring tape
- Luggage weight
- IKEA bag
- Phone to take pictures
How to do it:
- Buy a luggage scale (e.g. from Harald Nyborg) and a weight measuring tape for horses.
- Every Saturday: measure and weigh the horse – note the result.
- Once a month: Take a profile picture of the horse standing sideways (preferably from the side with at least the mane, so the neck is clearly visible) to follow the development. This means you get pictures that are very easy to compare and thus follow the development 📸

🐎 Exercise and health
A horse in the wild walks approximately 15–20 km per day.
To keep your weight down, your heart rate should be raised at least every 4–5 days – preferably by galloping.
Build up the training gradually, especially if the horse has been injured or has been standing still.
🌟 Remember: Many other horse owners have had great success following this plan - both with weight loss and with having a happier and more well-functioning horse.
