When a horse gets a stomach ulcer, a tendon injury or overuse of joints and ligaments, it is easy to focus on symptoms: pain, stiffness or decreased appetite.
But the body doesn't heal on its own. It needs something to build with – and it gets that through food.
Instead of just alleviating symptoms, you can think further:
🔍 What does the body need to be able to repair itself?
🧱 Healing requires building blocks – every day
The body builds new tissue from the nutrients you feed it. If something is missing, the repair will never be complete. Here are the most important building blocks:
🌾 1. Quality roughage – often and in small portions
First things first: Horses are designed to eat roughage almost constantly, even when they have a stomach ulcer or are recovering.
Give good quality roughage – preferably every 3–4 hours – to keep the pH stable, protect the stomach, and support nutrient absorption.
🧬 2. Protein – necessary for everything that needs to be rebuilt
Damaged tissue = broken down tissue. And the body can only rebuild it with protein.
- Collagen, muscle mass and mucous membranes are made of protein
- In the case of stomach ulcers, tissue healing or muscle loss, the need increases.
Add extra protein if needed if the roughage is lacking – for example in the form of soy meal, alfalfa or similar.
⚙️ 3. Vitamins and minerals – small substances with a big effect
The small nutrients play big roles:
- Zinc, copper and manganese → form new connective tissue
- Vitamin C and E → protects and repairs cells
- Magnesium and calcium → support nerves, digestion and cell function
Deficiencies here can slow down the entire healing process – even if everything else is in order.
Peak Performance and Every Day Happy contain it all – you don't need to buy additional supplements.
🌿 4. Fiber – calm stomach and stable energy
Fiber ensures that the food passes through the digestive tract slowly and in a balanced manner. This means:
- Stable blood sugar
- Less hunger stress
- Better stomach function and pH balance
+Fiber Mash is gentle and satiating – and a great supplement for horses in recovery and as daily support for all types of horses
🧠 5. Omega-3 – when the body is irritated
Omega-3 helps the body deal with irritation and support tissue functions.
RC O3 Algae Oil is a strong, pure and stable omega-3 source – and completely free of pollution and heavy metals.
🥚 6. Eggshell membrane – natural support for connective tissue (RC Movement)
Eggshell membrane (OvoMet®) contains collagen, glucosamine, hyaluronic acid and amino acids – everything that ligaments, tendons, articular cartilage and tissues in general need.
📚 Studies show:
- Less stiffness and pain
- Increased mobility
- Increased collagen activity in ligament-like tissues

💬 What about stomach ulcers and acid suppression?
Treatment with antacids (e.g. Omeprazole) may be necessary for a period of time – but long-term use has some disadvantages:
- It changes the pH in the stomach → the food is not broken down properly
- It can affect the absorption of e.g. iron, calcium and magnesium in the small intestine
- “Rebound acid” may occur when stopping treatment

Therefore, it is important to support the body at the same time – and afterwards – with the right nutrition.
💡 Two feeding paths with Regulator Complete
You can choose two approaches – depending on your horse's needs:
1. Healing and performance in one
Peak Performance , in addition to vitamins and minerals, also contains:
- RC Movement (eggshell membrane)
- RC O3 Algae Oil
Combine with:
- Salt
- +Fiber Mash
For horses with a high need for structure and support
2. Gentle build-up and balance
Every Day Happy contains vitamins, minerals and protein. Supplement with:
- RC Movement (eggshell membrane)
- RC O3 Algae Oil
- Salt
- +Fiber Mash
For horses in maintenance – or when a gentle, gradual build-up is needed.
🔚 Think longer – think healing
When you feed thoughtfully, you give the body what it needs – not just to function, but to recover and stand stronger going forward.
Food is not just fuel – it is biological information that tells the body how to work.
